Tyron Goldschmidt

ABOUT ME

I am a philosophy professor at the University of Rochester. I have a PhD from King's College London, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and a BA Hons from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. Because of all the moves my accent has become a bit of a mess.

My main areas of expertise are metaphysics, philosophy of religion, early modern philosophy, medieval philosophy, and ethics. My most unusual interest is in the meaning and justification of Jewish principles and practices. I return to the same kind of project as Saadya, Maimonides, Gersonides, et al, whereas most contemporary work in Jewish philosophy is either continental theology or intellectual history, worthy as those projects are.
